The Power of Two

The Power of Two

Dualities shape our world. Day and night, hot and cold, good and evil. I’ll even toss in some of my personal favorites, too. Peanut butter and jelly, butter and popcorn. For me, the most profound duality lies in the two tiny lives frozen, but healthy.

After the anxious wait, the genetic testing results arrived with incredible news: two of my embryos are healthy and normal! While there’s still a journey ahead, this is a significant milestone.

There’s a bittersweetness to this moment. Joy for the two thriving embryos is intertwined with sadness for the one that is abnormal. Yet in the face of this loss, the power of two shines through. Two possibilities for life, love, for creating a Jewish family.

The future holds many unknowns, from the sex of the embryo to be transferred (I asked my doctor not to reveal this information, yet!) to the challenges of pregnancy and parenthood. But for now, I’m basking in the hope and promise these two little lives represent.

Gratitude fills my heart. To science, for the medical team, and for this unexpected gift of two healthy embryos.

As I prepare my mind and body for the embryo transfer on September 20th, I welcome all the prayers and well wishes.
