Expect the Unexpected

Over the past two months, I’ve come to realize the importance of expecting the unexpected—a lesson I’ve often reflected on my journey to motherhood. Putting this into practice, however, remains challenging.

Today, while in the middle of teaching a class, my phone rang unexpectedly. Assuming it was a routine appointment confirmation, I answered, only to receive my Receptiva biopsy results.

The unexpected news: I tested positive for the BCL6 marker, indicating silent endometriosis. This likely explains the implantation failures with my two embryos.

While I’m grateful to have answers that shed light on these failures, the prospect of additional treatments weighs heavily on my heart. Balancing gratitude for clarity with the frustration of facing more procedures is a lot for my heart to carry. Treatment options include a three-month course of hormone therapy or laparoscopic surgery to address the endometriosis. Both approaches aim to improve the chances of a successful pregnancy. I will learn more about these options during my doctor’s appointment on Thursday.

Two things remain certain: I will continue to expect the unexpected, and my determination to become a mother is unwavering.

If you’ve read this far, thank you! Your support means the world to me. As I prepare for additional treatments and IVF plans—expenses not covered by insurance—your contributions to my GoFundMe are deeply appreciated.
